1864-1901 French painter and printmaker. He is best known for his portrayals of late 19th-century Parisian life, particularly working-class, cabaret, circus, nightclub and brothel scenes. He was admired then as he is today for his unsentimental evocations of personalities and social mores. While he belonged to no theoretical school, he is sometimes classified as Post-Impressionist. Erik Johan lofgren
Erik Johan Löfgren (15. lokakuuta 1825 Turku -- 10. joulukuuta 1884) oli suomalainen taidemaalari. Löfgrenin vanhemmat olivat kauppias Johan Gabriel Löfgren ja Katarina Erikintytär o.s. Vahlsten. Hän opiskeli T. J. Leglerin johdolla Ruotsin kuninkaallisessa taideakatemiassa Tukholmassa 1842?C1850 ja sitten D??sseldorfin taideakatemiassa O. Mengelbergin ja F. Th. Hildebrandtin johdolla 1853?C1858. Löfgren toimi taulujen restauroijana Tukholmassa 1842?C1853 ja myöhemmin 1870-luvulla hän oli opettajana Helsingin yliopiston piirustussalissa. Hänen maalaustyylinsä oli lyyrisen romanttista ja hän maalasi muotokuvia sekä historian tapahtumista aiheensa saaneita maalauksia.
August Ahlborn
(October 11, 1796 - August 24, 1857) was a German landscape painter. Ahlborn was born in Hanover, and studied with Karl Wilhelm Wach in Berlin. He went to Italy in 1827, where he converted to Roman Catholicism, and lived in Florence, Ascoli, and Rome. He painted mainly Italian landscapes, but also some Nordic ones, as well as a few portraits and religious works. He died in Rome in 1857.
